XtendiMax® Herbicide with VaporGrip® Technology Application Flexibility

XtendiMax® herbicide with VaporGrip® Technology and Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® Soybeans

This Roundup Ready® Xtend Crop System utilizes soybeans with tolerance to glyphosate and dicamba. Having dicamba in the system can help to control glyphosate-resistant weeds such as Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, and marestail, along with other tough-to-control broadleaf weeds.

XtendiMax herbicide with VaporGrip Technology, a restricted use pesticide, is a new formulation of dicamba that significantly reduces volatility and has application flexibility in Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans. With many other dicamba herbicide products, the minimum interval between application and soybean planting may be up to 30 days. Only approved dicamba products, such as XtendiMax herbicide with VaporGrip Technology, can be applied in Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans preplant without a plant-back interval, at planting, preemergence, and postemergence up to and including the beginning of bloom (see figure below).

Application Flexibility for Weed Control in Soybeans.

Establishing a robust weed management program is essential to maintaining farm productivity and reducing weed populations and weed proliferation. Starting the growing season clean and applying herbicides when weeds are actively growing and less than 4 inches tall significantly improves efficacy. In minimum tillage situations, apply XtendiMax herbicide with VaporGrip Technology plus Roundup PowerMAX® Herbicide and an approved drift reducing agent (DRA) with a soil residual herbicide early in the season prior to planting. In conventional tillage situations, especially under dry conditions, apply XtendiMax herbicide with VaporGrip Technology tank mixed with a soil residual herbicide early in the season at planting. Within 20-30 days after soybean planting (generally V2-V3 growth stages), a postemergence application of XtendiMax herbicide with VaporGrip Technology plus Roundup PowerMAX Herbicide and an approved DRA with Warrant® Herbicide or Warrant® Ultra Herbicide is recommended to control continuous germination of problematic weed species like Palmer amaranth, marestail, and waterhemp.
